Moody is in St. Clair County along I-20, between Leeds and Pell City, so carry permits for Moody residents come from the St. Clair County Sheriff, not Jefferson County.
Alabama hasn't required a permit to carry a pistol since January 1, 2023, but a permit still helps if you travel, since some states that honor Alabama permits don't allow permitless carry. Permits come from the sheriff of the county you live in:

Common questions
- Can I have a gun I bought online shipped to you from Moody?
- Yes. Have the seller ship it to Trademark Guns as your FFL. We call when it arrives, and the transfer is $25 for a handgun or long gun.
- Do I need a permit to carry a pistol in Alabama?
- No. Since January 1, 2023, Alabama law has allowed adults who can legally own a handgun to carry one without a permit. Many people still get one, because other states that honor Alabama permits may not allow permitless carry.
